Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Nairobi and transfer to Masai Mara
Upon the arrival, be picked by the driver guide of our company and first go through briefing about this amazing tour to Masai Mara and Zanzibar. Go through the dos and don’ts to follow while on the tour, activities that you will take, meals and accommodation types and more. You will head to Masai Mara national reserve with a stopover at the viewing point of the rift valley for photography. Arrive in Masai Mara also called Mara plains for your accommodation.
Day 2 and 3: Explore Masai Mara – game drives and hot air balloon adventure.
Spend a wonderful time viewing wildlife such as buffalos, leopards, lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, rhinos, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas, and others through game drives and hot air balloon safari.
These two experience come handy with picnic lunch, bush breakfast, sundowners and more fun moments. If you take a safari between August and October, enjoy wildebeest migration in millions together with thousands of zebras.
Day 4: Fly to Zanzibar and check in at your beach resort
Leave Masai Mara and head to Zanzibar with a flight and upon landing, meet our safari representative in Zanzibar who will take you through briefing sessions about the remaining days in Zanzibar. Transfer to the beach hotel for your night stay.
Day 5: Zanzibar – Beach activities
Take part in different beach activities like beach soccer, swimming, boat cruise, sunset dhow cruise, sun bathing and more.
Day 6: Stone town and spice plantations tour
This day, take part in two main activities which include a visit to Stone Town and also visiting the spice plantations. The stone town tour involves walking from one attraction to another including religious sites, national museum, former slave market, local markets that sell fresh and dry food crops and craft centers.
Lake head for spice plantation tour where a garden with different spices such as ginger, cloves, nutmeg coriander, lemon grass, paper, chili, and more won’t be missed while on this tour. This tour involves touching, smelling and tasting. Lunch will be local food such as Zanzibar pilau.
Day 7: Visit the tortoise island / prison Island and Jozani forest national park
Have breakfast and then have a boat cruise to the tortoise island. This was a former prison for the rebellious slaves during the time of Arabs and now it turned to be a home of the Aldabra giant tortoise. Participate in feeding, and medication of resident species here.
After lunch, visit the only forest and national park in Zanzibar, the Jozani Chwaka national park known to home the rare species of Zanzibar red colobus monkeys. There are other species such as birds, plants, butterflies, insects, and large mammals like antelopes etc.
Day 8, 9 & 10: Leisure at the beach
These 3 days will be spent at the beach resort participating in optional activities such as horseback riding, sport biking, leisure at the resort, visiting the Forodhani food market, old fort house and other interesting attractions.
Day 11: Head back home with a scheduled flight
Have breakfast at leisure depending on your scheduled flight. Transfer to Zanzibar international Airport and fly home to mark the end of your 11 days safari.
