Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up & hotel transfer (Nairobi city)

Get briefed about this East African Adventure Safari. Leave Jomo Kenyatta Airport and drive to a comfortable hotel in Nairobi city for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Nairobi is the biggest town and capital city in Kenya, also an ideal spot to connect to destinations like Nairobi National Park, Elephant Orphanage, and others.

Day 2: Go Explore Lake Nakuru NP

Set off from Nairobi for Lake Nakuru N. Park, a birder’s paradise lying in Central Kenya, 155km from the city center. En-route to the park, you will have a brief stopover visit at Thomson Waterfalls and also enjoy the breathtaking view of the rift valley.

Have enough time taking pictures and later continue to Lake Nakuru NP, check in at the safari lodge and proceed with a guided game drive starting mid-morning. Animal and bird sighting at Lake Nakuru NP include cape buffaloes, zebras, elands, waterbucks, giraffes, wild dogs, and plenty of flamingoes. You will have a relax evening, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Naivasha – birder’s haven

After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru NP for Lake Naivasha, another rich birding spot with over 400 bird species. Arrive early and you will have the most of boat ride excursion along Lake Naivasha and expect to keep an eye on several pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers and aquatic species like hippos, crocodiles and more.

Day 4: Visit Maasai Mara Reserve

Enjoy the most of your picturesque drive, view the rift valley area and get to the reserve early to check in at the lodge. You will have a long day relaxation at the lodge or opt for a game drive.

Day 5 to 6: Experience the best of Maasai Mara Reserve

Two days will be dedicated for you to have full day wildlife viewing in Maasai Mara Reserve. The expected sightings will include the big five game, antelope families, birds and watching the wildebeest migration.

Day 7: Maasai Mara-Serengeti Park, Tanzania

Leave your lodge for Serengeti NP, located in the Northern circuit of Tanzania. You will drive via Isebania border and today’s journey includes en-route lunch.

Day 8: Serengeti N/Park expedition –full day

After breakfast you will spend the most part of your day exploring the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a guided game drive through the vast savannas of Serengeti while spotting the big five game members, kongoni, impalas, gazelles, topis, elands, and witness the wildebeest migration.

Day 9: Hot air balloon & game drive (Serengeti)

Wake up early and after, catch up with an early sunrise balloon tour to enjoy aerial view of Serengeti NP wildlife and remarkable landscape. The morning balloon safari will be accompanied by bush breakfast and later, you will continue with normal game drive to see more wild animals in the park. Late in the afternoon, you may go for a cultural visit the Maasai community/Kurya community for authentic cultural experiences.

Day 10: Ngorongoro trip through Olduvai Gorge

Leave your lodge in Serengeti and drive to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s natural wonders. This remarkable Crater is protects all the big five game and also other wildlife such as cheetahs, jackals, hyenas and others.

Day 11: Whole day tour in Ngorongoro Crater

Today’s sightings will include the big game –elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions and buffaloes, as well as hyenas, jackals and cheetahs, birds etc.

Day 12: Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara N/Park

Leave Ngorongoro for Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania safari park where tree climbing lions thrive from. The park also supports a total of 400 bird species including pelicans, flamingoes, fish eagles and others. Arrive early and check in at the wilderness lodge/camp, relax then embark on an afternoon game drive.

Day 13: Full day safari – Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is endowed naturally; a magnificent park with abundant wildlife and today’s full day game viewing expedition will have you exposed to its diverse species. The expected sightings today include impalas, giraffes, elephants, bushbucks, leopards, zebras, and birds like flamingoes.

Day 14: Lake Manyara National Park to Tarangire

After breakfast, you will be departing Manyara National Park for Tarangire National Park. This park is found in Southwest of Arusha and prides itself of abundant elephant population.

This day’s game drive in the afternoon allows you view more than elephants as there are plenty more animals for you to see. They include giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, cheetahs, zebras, wildebeest and others.

Day 15: fly to Entebbe Airport, transfer to the hotel

Have breakfast early in the morning and after, you will exit Tarangire NP and connect to Arusha Airport. From Arusha, you will be taking a flight to Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Meet your Uganda safari guide for pick up and transfer to the hotel in Kampala or within Entebbe city.

Day 16: Travel to Murchison Falls NP, branch off to see rhinos at Ziwa sanctuary

Start your road trip early in the morning after having breakfast and you will drive via Luweero-Masindi route. The first stopover will be made at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to rhinos and you will have a guided walk. Meet rhinos in the wild, learn more about their behaviors, take photos and later, get back to the briefing area.

From Ziwa, transfer to the hotel in Masindi for a lunch break. Next will be transferring to Murchison Falls National Park, visit top of the falls before check in at the lodge.

Day 17: Game drive & launch cruise (Murchison Falls National Park)

Today, you will be starting with a guided game drive through the Northern circuit of Murchison Falls NP. This is a rich area when it comes to wildlife, and expected sightings will include large herds of buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions, antelopes, warthogs, birds, Rothschild giraffes and more.

Drive back to the lodge and lunch will be provided. Relax a little, and then head off to Paraa jetty for launch cruise excursion along the Nile River and connecting to the base of the Murchison Falls.

Day 18: Drive to Kibale forest – for primate adventures

Pick up and transfer from Murchison Falls N/P to Kibale National Park, 5-6 hours’ drive. This park contains 13 primate species and includes 1500 chimpanzees; 375 bird species and many floral species.

Day 19: Chimpanzee tracking + Bigodi swamp walk

Leave the lodge after breakfast and you will report at Kanyanchu Visitor Center. Start trekking back after taking photos, observing the behaviors of chimpanzees in the wild.

Kibale holds more than chimps, and today’s trek lets you to see other primates including blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, and others.

In the afternoon after lunch, continue to Bigodi for a nature walk with an experienced local guide. Bigodi is an eco-tourism spot and protects 138 bird species, antelopes and primates.

9 Days Uganda Primates & Serengeti Safari

Day 20: Semuliki National Park safari

After breakfast, you will be driven up to Semuliki N/Park for yet another incredible wilderness experience. You will arrive early, check in at the lodge, have lunch and relax. This will be followed by a walk to tour the Sempaya Hot Springs, one of the powerful hot springs on the planet earth.

Day 21: Birding in Semuliki national park

Have breakfast early in the morning, and you will be picked up ready to explore Semuliki NP. This park alone shelters 441 bird species, including western bronze-napped pigeon, spot-breasted ibis, piping hornbill, Nkulengu rail, white bellied kingfishers and more.

Retreat and have a relaxed day till evening, when you will embark on a guided night game drive to see the park’s diverse nocturnal species.

Day 22: Semuliki to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Delicious breakfast early in the morning and after, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth NP. Arrive at the park early enough, and as you drive to your lodge keep an eye on some of the wildlife as they roam around. You will a relaxed day at the lodge pre-booked by your tour operator.

Day 23: Full day wildlife safari; Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin your exciting guided game drive as early as 6:00 am and today, you will be visiting Kasenyi plains/sector. This is the Northern section of the park, an area where you will have higher chances of sighting buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, warthogs, birds and clear view of the vast savanna area.

In the afternoon when you are done with lunch, proceed to Kazinga channel for a launch cruise. Spend about 2 hours on Kazinga channel while sighting hippos, crocodiles and water birds, plus buffaloes, elephants that come to drink water or cool themselves at the banks of the channel.

Day 24: Queen Elizabeth Park to Bwindi impenetrable national park, through Ishasha sector

Have breakfast and after, have your property packed in the car ready to transfer to Bwindi your next primate destination in Uganda. Drive via Ishasha where you will spend some time searching for the tree climbing lions then connect to the lodge in Buhoma area –Bwindi N/Park.

Day 25: Gorilla trekking expedition and Batwa cultural experience

You will also have a gorilla family assigned to you to track in your group of 8 visitors accompanied by an experienced park guide.

When you get back to the lodge, relax till late in the afternoon when you will be picked and transferred to the Batwa pygmies for a cultural experience.

9 Days Rwanda Primates & Serengeti Migration Tour

Day 26: Lake Bunyonyi

This is Uganda’s deepest lake, and you will have a boat ride to one of the islands, especially the punishment island. The rest of the evening you will remain at the lodge chilling or you can opt for swimming.

Day 27: Cross to Rwanda – Volcanoes National Park

Depart from the camp/resort/lodge at Lake Bunyonyi, drive to Volcanoes NP through Katuna border. Clear with the border officials and continue to Musanze, check in at the lodge in or around Volcanoes National Park.

Day 28: Golden monkey tracking & cultural tour at Iby’Iwacu Village

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and later, you will be expected at Kinigi for briefing. Get to understand the set golden monkey tracking guidelines to be followed while in the jungles and at 8:00 am, start with your primate trek. You will enjoy one hour with golden monkeys upon finding them in the wild.

Walk back after taking pictures and observing their behaviors, settle for lunch then you will be led to Iby’Iwacu cultural village for a cultural tour.

Day 29: Volcanoes National Park to D.R. Congo – Virunga National Park

Begin your trip to Virunga National Park (VNP) and today, you will be crossing to D.R. Congo via Goma border. You will check in at accommodation facility around Bukima/Mikeno area for a night stay.

Day 30: Kibati for briefing & start hiking to the top of Nyiragongo Volcano

After breakfast, drive to Kibati where you will be briefed about your Nyiragongo hiking expedition. At 10:00 am, you will begin the trek to the summits of this powerful volcano rising at 3470m. Navigate through scenic vegetation while viewing the surrounding areas, and at the summits, your mind will be blown away with the glowing Lava Lake.

Day 31: Descend from Nyiragongo to Kibati ranger station

Enjoy breakfast early in the morning at the summit shelters and after, pick your property ready to begin descending to Kibati. At Kibati, transfer to the nearby accommodation in the Virunga NP.

Day 32: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park

Begin your trip to Kahuzi-Biega National Park, the best park to trek the Eastern Lowland gorillas in D.R. Congo. You will check in at the lodge or hotel around Bukavu.

Day 33: Lowland gorilla trekking

Meet Kahuzi-Biega National Park officials for briefing about lowland gorilla trekking rules and for you to be assigned to gorilla family. At 8:00 am, you will be led by Kahuzi-Biega Park guide to search for the Eastern Lowland gorillas. After up close with lowland gorillas, retreat and have a relaxed moment at the lodge.

Day 34: Cross back to Rwanda – Kigali

Following an early morning breakfast, depart from your lodge for Kigali city. Get to Kigali a bit early after long hours of driving and you will chill at the hotel.

Day 35: City tour & departure

Have breakfast early morning and after, you will set off for a short Kigali city tour. Drive back to have lunch at the lodge and later, connect to the airport for departure.
