Detailed itinerary

8-Day Masai Mara, Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Safari

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and city tour

As soon as you land at Kigali airport, our driver guide will be there waiting to welcome you and take you through a briefing about the safari. Be driven to the agreed location to check in, as you wait to have picnic lunch.

After a meal, your safari driver guide will probably drive to the well-known Kigali for a city tour. Visit different amazing locations in this capital. You may opt to visit Kigali genocide memorial site to learn about the country’s dark history, King’s palace museum or visit any craft shop and buy some souvenirs to take home for remembrance.

Day 2: Transfer to Ruhengeri – Volcanoes National Park

Arise early morning for delicious breakfast, prepare and check out of the lodge heading to Volcanoes national park. It will take about two hours’ drive depending on stopovers made and also the road condition.

Get to have several stop overs for scenic views then after proceed to check in at the booked lodge for lunch. Chose to have any activity or relax for the next day’s experience.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

On day 3 of your safari, wake up as early as possible to have your well prepared breakfast and later meet your safari guide to drive to the park offices where all activities start from for briefing and grouping. After the ranger guide will smartly lead you into the jungle in search for Gorillas in their wild.

Get to know that it’s nature and these primates keep on moving from one place to another therefore, having a chance to spot them; learn more of them mostly their social behaviors. Retreat to the lodge for lunch after trekking and relax with an optional activity in the afternoon.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe NP and canopy walk

Nyungwe National park is one of the interesting protected areas in southern Rwanda, also known as the oldest rain forest in central Africa located near the border with D.R. Congo and Burundi. It will take you about two – two and half hours’ drive from Volcanoes National park to Nyungwe National park.

On arrival, check in at the booked lodge for lunch and head for an amazing activity – canopy walk in the afternoon. During this activity, have a chance to spot some primates like red tailed monkey, Vervet monkeys, golden monkeys and many more. You also have a chance to record beautiful bird species, view different plants, butterflies and others. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer back to Kigali

Nyungwe national park borders Burundi, Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic of Congo hence harboring very interesting species only unique to this region. Therefore, after your delicious breakfast in the morning, drive smartly to the starting point to meet your park ranger guide for briefing.

They will brief you about the national park and resident chimpanzees as well as all the do’s and don’ts of this adventure. Set off for the walk in search for chimpanzees and get a chance to see how they communicate to each other in case of food alert, danger, patrol time or hunting if you get such a chance and many more about these close relatives to humans. Meet your driver and move back to the lodge for lunch.

After having lunch, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali where you will spend your night for the next destination.

Day 6: Fly to Nairobi. Evening city tour

On day 6 have your breakfast in the most cleanliness city in Africa that’s Kigali and drive to Kigali international airport then fly to Nairobi. The flight will take you about one and a half hours to get to Nairobi. Getting to Kenya’s interior you can have a short city tour around and visit the Nairobi national park, giraffe center and many more. Proceed and check in with the booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Drive to Lake Nakuru NP. Afternoon game drive

On day 7 you’re going to take your time, have your well prepared breakfast, park well all your luggage and check out with the hotel heading to Lake Nakuru National park located approximately 164 kilometers from Nairobi city.

Check in from the booked lodge for lunch and in the afternoon drive for the evening game drive to spot different wildlife such as Rothschild giraffe which was introduced in this national park by 1977, elephants, zebras, black and white rhinos and many others. After such great experience drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Game drive in Lake Nakuru. Transfer to Nairobi and fly to Serengeti National Park.

Arise early morning from your warm bed for delicious breakfast on this day as early as possible in order to start your game drive early to spot some cats and other nocturnal if possible for example lions, cheetahs and leopards.

You will also spot other animals that you might have missed during the evening game drive, like hyenas, buffaloes, waterbucks and rhinos. Retreat to the lodge for lunch and prepare to depart to the last destination of your 11 days’ safari in Tanzania.

Day 9: Full day in Serengeti National Park

Serengeti national park is located in the Northern part of Tanzania, well known for its millions of wildebeest migration. Have breakfast in the morning and set off for the field with the help of the park ranger guide who will be fully armed for security purposes. View, spot, and record numerous wild animals like zebras, black rhinos, giraffes and others.

Enjoy your picnic lunch in wilderness while watching animals having there’s too mostly elephants, buffalo and many more. In the afternoon start driving back to the lodge to catch up with time and get a chance to spot other animals you might have missed in the morning session.

Day 10: Transfer to Ngorongoro crater

On day 10, you’ll wake up for breakfast and check out to Ngorongoro conservation area for crater lakes exploration. It will take you about 2 to 3 hours’ drive from Serengeti national park to Ngorongoro. Drive for Ngorongoro craters where you will see most of the interesting creatures. During this walk such as beautiful birds during birding around the crater visiting the Olduvai Gorge. Visit the Masai village for cultural experience. Drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Transfer to Arusha. End of Safari

This will be the last day of your safari. Therefore you’re going to wake up in the morning. Have well prepared breakfast accompanied with a cup of coffee or tea. Opt for initial birding excursion around the lodge before departing as you encounter beautiful bird species around. Then check out from the lodge heading back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro. The driver guide will drop you at airport and fly back home.
